How It Works

The free printables that you can create on this site are a quarter fold size using standard size paper. After you go through our five step process to reach a printable page and print your wedding invitations, you will take the printed sheet and fold it in half, then fold it in half again. This will create an invitation with a front, an inside left, an inside right and a back. The final size of the invitation will be 4-1/4 inches x 5-1/2 inches. (Move Your Cursor Here To View a Photo)
You will have art choices for the front and the inside left. You will have wedding verse choices for the inside right and you can also write your own wedding verse if you like. The back will be blank. No other information will be printed on your wedding invitations. No logos, etc.

The process begins with Step 1 - Picking the art for the front of your wedding invitations

In Step 1, you will have four art choices to choose from to be placed on the front of your invitations. When you select your choice for the front, the selected choice will be shown and you will be able to confirm your choice and proceed to Step 2 or if the choice is incorrect you can link back to make another choice.

Step 2 - Picking the art for the inside of your wedding invitations

The process for Step 2 is similar to Step 1. You will have four choices for the inside left of your wedding invitation. The confirmation procedure will also be the same. After that selection is complete you will proceed to Step 3.

Step 3 - Picking the wedding verse for the inside of your printable invitations

In Step 3, you are picking the exact writing that will be printed on the inside right of your free wedding invitations. You will have four wedding verse choices. There will be text boxes provided to add your custom information. The wedding first verse choice has the parents of the bride announcing the wedding. The second and third choices are for the bride and groom to announce or invite someone to attend the wedding. The fourth choice will allow you to write your own wording. You have up to 14 lines of type that you can use. After choosing your wedding verse, you will proceed to Step 4.

Step 4 - Confirm Your Choices

In Step 4 you will be shown a sample photo of all three of your free printable wedding invitations choices. At this time you will confirm your choices or click a link to start over. If you like, you can also click your browser's back button at any time throughout the process. To accept these choices, you can click the "Proceed to Step 5 - Personalization" link.

Step 5 - Personalization

In Step 5, you will be presented with the wedding verse choice that you made earlier. There will be text boxes which correspond with the text that you will be replacing in the sample photo. If you chose the "write your own" option, (Wedding Verse #4), there will be 14 text boxes for you to type your information. Any of these text boxes can be left blank to add spacing in your verse. After you finish with your type, click the "Personalize and Proceed to the Printable Page" button and you will be shown a page with all of your choices placed in the appropriate positions ready to print and fold creating a wedding invitation. You can also use designer paper and purchase matching envelopes for even more elegant wedding invitations.

Printing Tips

After you complete Step 5 and you click the "Personalize and Proceed to the Printable Page" button, you will see the printable page with all of your choices in the proper position to print and fold to create your invitation. The first thing you will want to do is a "Print Preview." To do this either choose "File" on your browser menu or right click your mouse, then select "Print Preview."

If the view of your page in "Print Preview" is showing the page numbers, file name, date or any other information other than your art and your wedding verse, you will need to turn off the headers and footers. If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 7, there should be an icon in the "Print Preview" area which turns the headers and footers off and on. You will want them off to print your wedding invitations. If you have an older version of Internet Explorer, you will need to go to "Page Setup." In the "Page Setup" area, you need to find the two lines for the headers and footers. These lines will probably contain some random looking letters and symbols which is the coding that states what information is shown on the header and footer. You will need to delete all of the information in these two lines. These two lines must be deleted to remove the header and footer information from your printout.

TIP: You may want to write this information down before you
delete it. Then if you ever want to print something with the
default header and footer you can just type the letters and
symbols back into the lines you deleted.

While you are in "Print Setup " and/or "Print Preview" you need to make sure that the sheet orientation is in "Portrait" mode. Also, check to see that your margins are set to .75 or 3/4".

TIP: Most printers have no problem printing everything
using a 3/4" margin, however, it is recommended
to print a test sheet and proofread it carefully.

To make your free printable wedding invitations a little nicer, you can print the invitations on a designer paper and also obtain matching envelopes. For more information on designer paper and envelopes, click any "Additional Materials" link.

TIP: Before you attempt to print your invitations on designer paper,
you may want to print a test sheet on plain paper to make
sure that everything prints properly. This can keep you from
wasting your designer paper.

If your free printable wedding invitations still will not print in the proper location on the sheet, you can experiment with the margin settings in "Page Setup" to move the images around. (For example, if you increase the top margin, the images will move closer to the bottom. Just make sure that you do not cut off any of your personalization or any of the wedding verse.)

And finally, if your type in the wedding verse area is getting cut off, but everything else is in the proper position, just go back to the personalization step and alter the text in the text boxes.

Additional Materials

Some additional material that you may want to consider when you create your free printable wedding invitations is designer paper with matching envelopes. What we mean by "designer paper" is standard 8-1/2 inch x 11 inch paper that has a texture or has some type of light design like a marble look or parchment. (Move Your Cursor Here To View a Photo)

The designer paper and envelopes are usually sold separately, but you can usually find matching colors. Using smooth paper with a light color like ivory would make it easier to find matching envelopes. They are also available in white. Designer paper and envelopes can be found at most office supply or discount stores. The envelope size that you need is a standard invitation size of 4-3/8 inches x 5-3/4 inches.
